Why “Mystic Defender / Kujaku Ou 2”?

I first played this game under its Western title, Mystic Defender, and later found out that the localized version had been heavily censored. That pushed me to work on restoring what was lost. I used the original anime as a reference to rewrite the English story text, aiming to stay true to the tone while keeping the original Japanese visuals and aesthetics intact. Along the way, I also tweaked the gameplay to make it smoother and more enjoyable—without changing the core design that made the game what it is.

Hack features:

• A rewritten opening and ending text aligned with the original anime.
• A translated Japanese intro dialogue.
• Original title screen now in English.
• 6 button support.
• Stage 2 enemy colors corrected. (no longer green)
• Style option to toggle between Kujaku Ou and Mystic Defender aesthetics.
• Restored unused code for 1/2 damage health bar and 4-block health capacity.
• Magic system now has individual charge counters and more charge levels.
